JN White and RIT Partner on NY THRIVE Project to Advance Printed Electronics

JN White is excited to announce that our NY THRIVE project, in collaboration with Rochester Institute of Technology (RIT), has been officially approved!

Titled “Accelerating Domestic Manufacturing of Screen-Printed Electronics through Prototype Testing for Robustness,” the project will focus on an important challenge facing the printed electronics industry: validating the reliability and durability of fine-pitch, screen-printed silver circuits.

Advancing a Domestic Alternative

Fine-pitch screen-printed silver circuits have the potential to provide a cost-effective, domestically manufactured alternative to conventional etched copper circuits. Before these technologies can be adopted more broadly in demanding applications, however, their long-term performance and reliability need to be thoroughly understood.

That is where this collaboration with RIT comes in.

As part of the project, RIT will put printed electronic systems through a series of challenging environmental tests designed to simulate demanding real-world conditions. Testing will include low and high temperatures, temperature shock, and humidity exposure, following MIL-STD-810H testing protocols.

The goal is to better understand how these printed circuits perform under stress, including their durability, electrical performance, and potential failure mechanisms.

For JN White, this project represents more than an opportunity to test a new technology. It is a chance to help advance printed electronics toward reliable, high-performance applications while strengthening domestic manufacturing capabilities.

By working alongside RIT, we can combine JN White’s experience in screen-printed electronics with RIT’s testing and research capabilities to gain valuable insight into how these technologies can perform in demanding environments.
